BaHons in Creative practice having first completed Multimedia Design FD.

On the course I learned how to competently use industry standard software such as: Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Illustrator.

Projects Included:

  1. Flash Interfaces
  2. Graphic design work - such as designing logos and branding
  3. Edited audio then created a media player to play it back
  4. Some photo editing and movie editing.

The main part of the course though was website design and coding - learning about web standards set by W3C and usability. Gaining strong skills in CSS and XHTML.

Then in the final year it was much more self motivated and the main aim was for me to get ready for the industry. I found real clients and designed and built websites for them. I looked into search engine optimization (SEO). This is when I really started to get a passion for the future of the web and multimedia industry.

Football Squirts Site

Football Squirts is a football fun football programme aimed at children between 3-6 years old.

  1. Design and re-design of website
  2. Well optimized website giving high search results
  3. Web form ordering on the site for childrens football squirts kits (PHP).

Absorb Fitness Site

Absorb Fitness specialises in fitness instructor training.

  1. Flash banner / movie on homepage
  2. Created a calm minimalist site
  3. Worked closely wit the clients - I then trained them on how to update their site using Microsoft Frontpage.

Northumbria Engineering Site

Northumbria Engineering was the first site I made for a live client.

  1. SEO work to get many top ranks in Google
  2. Took photos and edited them to be put on site
  3. The site has small flash galleries for photos
  4. Part of a shell STEP program.

Placid Wolves are a Newcastle based rock band.

  1. 'Placid Player' - music player built in Flash
  2. Incorporated Youtube videos onto the site
  3. Logo design.

Fifth Design Site

Fifth is a design and fashion agency looking for local talent to showcase in their shop and they felt they needed an online presence.

I have a keen interest in all things to do with web and multimedia and emerging new technologies. I have got lots of books about the subject and I am also a subscriber to web designer magazine - which keeps me up to date with lots of news from the industry and lets me find out about new trends quickly.
